There will never be enough words or enough that could be written about this remedy.

I could write and write and write and it wouldn’t be enough to even come close to the mind symptoms coupled with the verbosity of this remedy.

You see, this is the remedy of the imagination gone wild. It is working overtime and there is nothing more pleasant to the person needing this remedy, than the indulgence of their imagination, their visions, their delusions and the self indulged world of the Cannabis Indica state.

Imagine if you will, someone living in a world of their own fantasies, imaginations and big ideas. They are building sandcastles in the sky.

Sandcastles built in the sky are obviously never going to be grounded on earth or of any lasting importance - their ideas may be very grandiose, splendid, monumental, majestic, glorious, elaborate and superb…… but in reality they are frail, whimsical and deluded with no real grounding underneath. However to the person needing Cannabis Indica, their visions, their ideas and their delusions are beautiful, fantastical and delightful - they are ‘gunna gunna gunna’ - gunna do this, gunna do that and gunna do something else.

But in reality they do nothing.

Nothing more than sit in their fantastical world creating ideas and sandcastles in the sky that will fall grain by grain to the earth and never to amount to anything.

This is the state of someone needing the remedy Cannabis Indica

What is Cannabis?

Cannabis Indica is an annual plant in the family Cannabaceae commonly known as the hemp family. It is indigenous to the Hindu Kush mountains of Southern Asia and is grown widely around the world. The plant produces large amounts of THC & THCV which gives a psychoactive euphoric state when smoked or ingested.

Used widely around the world for both recreational purposes, ceremonies and for some pain relief, Cannabis like many other plant substances, is the remedy used to escape into another world.

There is much discussion around the difference between Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa and for the purposes of this article I will be discussing the homeopathic proving and remedy Cannabis Indica.

Have you a moment or a lifetime to listen?

It doesn’t matter which, people needing this remedy won’t care and will talk at you thinking that you are engaged in what they are saying.

They will talk and theorise and talk and then talk & theorise some more.

And if there’s no one to listen to them, they may even ramble to themselves, or draw or write about all the things they are going to do, going to achieve and will indulge endlessly in the amazing insights they are having. In reality they do nothing than live in their own isolated imaginative state.

Think of this remedy as being incredibly self centered, self deluded and self indulged. They are caught up and trapped in their own fantastical imaginings and if you’re not on board with that - if you’re not engaged and up with their ideas, then never the twain shall meet. It may feel like they are off in a world of their own and you can’t quite reach them - similar to the state of someone who is locked in an autistic or psychotic state - it can feel very confusing, scary and isolating to the people around them - trying to connect but having no success.

Stuck between worlds in time and space

Time and space become a different reality where they can have quick and abundant thoughts, however time seems to move very slowly.

They are stuck in a distortion of time and cannot judge time nor distances accurately. In fact because time is so clearly distorted in this remedy,

it is also the remedy for someone stuck in time - they are often stuck in a teenage type of psyche, never really entering the real world of adulthood with its maturity and consideration of others.

They in effect never grow up - never really enter their true potential but are stuck ‘in between worlds’.

They are not of this earth and they are not also completely in the astral realms - they are stuck somewhere in time in the middle and this can also be terrifying for them.

This remedy may be of use to help people come back onto the earthly realm, to come back after a trip, a near death experience or a shock. Another remedy I’ve used with success where someone is stuck between worlds especially with a huge amount of fear - of fear of never getting back and going crazy is Aconite. Aconite may help them come back to this world - to a place of calm and peace.

The inside bores him while the outside terrifies him therefore he takes Cannabis inside the house to keep himself stimulated [Sankaran]

From understanding these quotes from famous Homeopaths and the overall remedy picture, it is very easy to imagine what sort of situations Cannabis Indica may be indicated in - remembering we are always looking for the Simillimum (like with like) when finding a remedy - the closest possible match to the person’s physical, mental and emotional state, for the remedy to have an affect.

The world is grey and boring without the weed, the ganja, the skunk

The everyday world can become bleak and boring so the person who turns to Cannabis.

The colours are not so bright and the ideas are not flowing and everyday life is somewhat boring. So they turn to Cannabis - Marijuana, Mary Jane, MJ, Pot, Weed, Dope for a better view of life.

Often referred to as getting stoned, being out of it, whacked or off their faces, this gives an insight into the people needing this remedy. They are out of touch with reality and find it difficult to connect with everyday life. The Garden of Eden created in their own imagination is a beautiful place to be…the colours are more vibrant, the ideas flow and they truly believe they are going to achieve great things.

That is, until they come back down to Earth.

Down to Earth where is it monotonous, boring and grey - so they need the substance again to bring back the ideas, the creativity, the colours, to make life more bearable - to keep them inside the glass house of their own imaginations.

What we see in this remedy is a tendency towards selfishness. This is because they are wrapped up in the rapture of their own internal fantasies - their own delusions and imaginations and this is a world only they are part of - only they can enter. If you are not getting high too, you cannot begin to connect with people needing this remedy - you’ll never be on the in crowd, you’ll never be able to understand their fantastical world and you’ll never be cool enough to get it.

It’s no laughing matter

There will often be immoderate laughter - laughing at silly things, giggling over things that aren’t really that funny and finding humor in all sorts of situations, with all sorts of strange things.

Giggling and laughing, things seem hilarious to them..things which which may not be that funny to the everyday person. They are trapped in a world where other’s can’t see the humor, can’t see the visions and can’t be a part of.

They are isolated and alone and often this can lead to a huge fear of darkness. It can lead to terror and borderline insanity. Once past the initial state of joy, ecstasy and delight they can enter a state of complete and utter fear. Fear of darkness fear of leaving the body and fear of insanity.

Hallucinations are common with wonderful strange hallucinations. Cannabis Indica is mentioned in homeopathic repertories in more than 250 delusion rubrics (symptoms) and often as the only remedy listed.

Often they have the delusion that they are a great person (Delusions of grandeur), they have an amazing idea that will save the world, they are famous or want to become famous, or that they are out of their body looking at themselves from the outside.

The munchies

This remedy has an increased appetite often referred to by users of cannabis as ‘the munchies’.

They may have a ravenous hunger which is not satiated by eating enormous amounts. It will stimulate the appetite and the desire for sweets or hunger is overwhelming and food is often consumed in large amounts as the high wears off.

Coming back to Earth

So what happens when we administer this remedy? What may we expect to happen?

We expect to see someone who is back on earth, grounded and connected with themselves, others and the life that they were born to live on this planet. More connection with reality, more awareness of themselves and their behaviours and a willingness to start living life in this reality.
